For a sport sedan lover, maybe you need to look at the Mitsubishi Evo 10. This is the 10th generation of Lancer Evolution series which has been produced since 2007. Let’s look at the details.
Specs and Strenght
The tenth generation of Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X is the newest-enhanced feature among the predecessor. After a long time producing the series, until the 9th ones, finally, Mitsubishi added the newest engine. It has an internal code 4B11T. It is the absolute monster for its new evolution.
This unit still comes with the 2 liters, aluminum cylinder block which the predecessor came with the cast iron and it has the turbocharged inline-four. As a result, the car comes 12 kg lighter. Besides, the newest Evo 10 comes with the timing chain and featured with MIVEC valve-timing for exhaust and intake valves.
Compared to the previous Evos that were supported with automatic transmission, the Evo 10 comes with dual-clutch unite and dubbed TC SST. It comes also with the six ratios and has 276bhp X so it can reach 62mh only in 5.2 sec with its 1540kg. Yes, it adds 140 kg compared to its IX generation.
Furthermore, a collection of the advanced electronic systems are added which are under the Super All Wheel Control. This incorporates the Active Yaw Control, ABS, the stability control system and so on. It also comes with 30mm wider track with 40% stiffer in torsional rigidity. However, the engine was lighter and it is positioned 10% lower.
The Downside of Mitsubishi Evo 10
Apart from its new technology, there are some weaknesses which might be very disappointing because this is the final series we can enjoy.
The last variant of Evo has 4 cylinder engine with its 2L displacement. So, we cannot expect more from it. It doesn’t get any improvement which sounds like the regular Lancer.
Personally, the dashboard is not the favorite thing with the poor plastic material which this might be for saving money in production. The steering wheel is far from the sports car look and compared to the ninth generation of Lancer Evo. For the speedo and its rpm gauge are too big. There is no point for having the huge gauges which are basically to show you the speed and the RPM. This is very aesthetics!
The design might be purely a subjective thing. Well, the Evo series has gone through a lot of changes but it is basically with the same feature in some parts. Looking at the front end, it still holds the Evo, but the rear end. At the front one, Mitsubishi kept their iconic look with huge intercooler hole and its long stretched headlights hood vent.
Apart from those downsides and the strengths, we should accept that we will not see another Evo series. Mitsubishi made it the end of the Lancer Evo series. So, personally, we all hate the final goodbye that we will not see another improvement in this car. Not anymore.
