Aston Martin Zagato: A Small Racing Car
The new and elegant Aston Martin V12 Zagato went as a street version into the production. Dressed in a truly modern, exclusive and aggressive way made by the Italians, this new car was able to convince the public that this great 517-hp racer even as a prototype in the 24-hour race on the Nurburgring Nordschleife in June 2011 was the best one and attracted many car enthusiasts under its new spell. The road-legal race car was initially limited to only 150 copies and will be delivered in the second half of 2012. Cost of this great model started from 330.000 British pounds, plus VAT in some European countries it can be bought currently for about 436.900.
Based on the aggressive Aston Martin V12 Vantage, the V12 Zagato is designed as an absolute driving machine. From motor sport derived components that emphasize the goal of building up this goal. Visually, the two-seater is off by an athletic design with soft and hard lines. The modified front end with a big cooler throat and a carbon splitter is there to reduce aerodynamic lift and already indicate that the Aston Martin V12 Zagato, an aerodynamically optimized power package is a high performance offering. More carbon air intakes in the bonnet ensure optimum efficiency of the engine and testify to the vigorous aggregate.
V12 Zagato Getting More Badass
We all were waiting for the great introduction and meeting with new V12 Zagato, however, no one ever expected that the meeting will become smaller in terms of the participants. It is a strange allegory, but there are simply no more words for us to describe the fact that the production of this great model will be cut. It is now the question whether we have to be sad or happy. By having lower production volume Aston Martin V12 Zagato will become more exclusive, however, no one wants to have less possibility to get this great car.
The number of the planned V12 Zagatos will be decreased by 49 units from the first initial plans of 101. So now the availability of this new model will become more difficult for about one third. The questions “Why?” are now all over the place, some say that this is because of not as high demand for the model as it was initially expected, others just say that the automakers just decided to make the car more exclusive, and keep it in the borders of a super-strict limited edition; the real reason is not yet sure. However, if the previous price of this great V12 Zagato was not less than ?400,000, after this news the price for this supermodel will for sure increase!
English car manufacturer Aston Martin and the Italian coachbuilder Zagato cooperate since the 1960s, when two companies teamed up for the first time for creating of the DB4 GTZ. Since then, a lot of Aston Martin models passed through the hands of Italian specialists, including these two vehicles – V12 Zagato No. Zero of 2012 model year and DB7 Zagato of 2003 model year. Both coupes will go under the hammer on February 8 at the RM Sotheby’s auction which will take place in Paris.
The first car equipped with a 510-horsepower 5.9-liter 12-cylinder engine was built on the basis of the V12 Vantage and celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of mentioned above DB4 GT Zagato. The model was released in a limited edition of 65 units; the development of each of them took 2000 man-hours of work.
Coupe has also received a unique logo which pays tribute to the original model of 1920. Other clients of the company also asked for logos, but the manufacturer and the Zagato said they will never do the same logo again.
