First Toyota 86 Custom is Toyota GT86 coupe turned into a rally car
Toyota has unveiled the coupe version of the rally GT86, which won the title prefix CS-R3. The announcement was prepared by specialists’ motorsport Japanese brands – Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG).
Coupe received a two-liter horizontally opposed four modernized, forced from 200 to 240-250 horsepower. Additional capacity was achieved by reconfiguring the engine control unit and increasing the compression ratio. The unit is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox.
Coupe equipped with adjustable shock absorbers, racing exhaust system HJS, adjustable slip differential on the rear axle, FIA homologated safety cage and 15- or 17-inch OZ wheels for driving on gravel and asphalt, respectively. Mass rally car has decreased from 1275 to 1080 pounds.
Debut of new items will be held on the ninth stage of the World Rally Championship (WRC), which will be held in late August in Germany. Coupe will not take part in the overall standings. It will serve as the official vehicle reconnaissance phase and will pass on all special stages to test the track before the race.
