The name of BMW has been very famous in the scene of the fast cars market so that it is reasonable for car enthusiasts to always ask about the fastest BMW to date. There are many available car models from BMW that make it quite tricky to find the fastest one around. The easiest way to find the fastest car model from BMW is to check on the 0 to 60 mph time. That will clearly show the model that could go fastest among other models.
So far in terms of the production car that can be purchased right away in the marketplace, the M5 Competition is the BMW fastest car for today. That particular car is capable of hitting 60 mph from 0 mph in just about 3.1 seconds. That is quick for a production car for sure. The X3 and X4 M Competition under the 2020 year model come second and third on the list of the fastest car models from BMW today.
The car itself is an updated M5 with more power that is not that much quicker than before though. The standard version of M5 has a maximum power of 600 horsepower while the Competition version has 17 more horsepower to expect. Unfortunately, the maximum torque of the car remains the same at 553 pounds/feet that comes at a somewhat broader rev range. That leads to the fact that BMW M5 Competition has more power but less torque than Mercedes-AMG E63 S.
Some obvious aspects can still be optimized to get the best out of this car. The performance benchmark for this car is certainly the standard M5. With a little bit of optimization, the standard M5 could hit 60 mph from 0 mph in about 2.8 seconds. Unfortunately, the Competition version that is 26-pound lighter is only capable of delivering 3.0 seconds to hit 60 mph from 0 mph. The Competition version runs better in the quarter-mile with 11 seconds and 130 mph of top speed. The standard M5 hits it in just 10.9 seconds but only at 129 mph of top speed.
No doubt that the M5 is the fastest BMW model to date. Yet, the Competition version is not that much of an improvement compared to the standard M5. Either one of those car models from BMW is highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a beautiful and fast car. A bit of tweak and adjustment can be made to get a better level of performance of the car following the manufacture tweaks for the Competition version that includes suspension alteration for better handling.
The fuel economy of this car as observed upon a high-performance test is at 15 mpg. On the other hand, the EPA fuel economy of this car is at 17/14/21 mpg of combined/city/highway. Among the fastest BMWs of today, the M5 Competition is no match to many of its competitors in the marketplace. Just buy it and drive it right away to get the idea of a decent performance level of this car as one of the fastest models that BMW has in store.
