Well, if you remember, Nissan 240SX was launched in North America last 1988 as the sports car. After several years, the company also introduced another series which are still pretty interesting to know.

First Sight of Nissan 240SX

At the first time introduced, it came as the 200SX (S12) Model. The term Nissan 200SX later was used in various automobiles between 1975-2002. Then came the 240SX series which was equipped by 2.4-liter inline 4 engine or known as KA2E in 1989-1990, and then KA24DE in 1991-1999.

For the KA24E, it came with overhead cam with SEFI fuel injection. Most owners were rumored to enjoy the forged steel connecting rods, but it came with half-counterweight one-piece cast crankshaft and also a cast aluminum intake manifold.

The car was supported by 89×96 mm bore x stroke with 140 hp (105 kW) @5600 rpm Max power. It had compression ratio 8:6:1 with Valve configuration SOHC, 12 Valves. Besides, the KA24E had 152 ft lbf(206 Nm) @4400 rpm Max torque.

The second type was KA24DE. It was the engine for S13 and S14 for 240SX series with 2.4 Liter DOHC Engine. The series came with Bore x Stroke 89×96 mm and DOHC, 16 valves of Valve configuration. The Nissan 240SX S14 had 9:5:1, while the Nissan 240SX S13 came with 9:0:1 compression ratio. For the mas torque, both types had 160 ft lbf @4400 rpm and 155hp @5600 rpm max power.

Nissan 240SX S13 was popular with its sharp handling and steering. Besides, it was relatively lightweight with just 2700 lb. However, in the automotive press, this is said as the underpowered car. The engine is relatively torquey and durable. It came with a heavy iron-block truck and the DOHC version was improved in 1991.
